Kangaroo Island

Kangaroo Island just off the coast of South Australia is one of those unspoilt natural wonders perfect for any holiday.  It is seven times the size of Singapore and is teeming with an abundance of wildlife all in the natural habitat. The island is complete with native bushland, wildlife and beautiful beaches that compliment the natural surroundings.

Located 110km south-west of Adelaide you can access Kangaroo Island by plane of ferry.  Once you arrive on the island you can witness a rare spectacle of seals lying on the pristine beaches, koalas hugging the trunks of trees along with echidnas, platypus, goannas, wallabies and kangaroos. It is the third largest island off the coastline of Australia that thousands of people come to experience each year.

Most of the island still remains untouched from when Mathew Flinders first discovered this rare beauty.  Various attempts have been made through the years to establish a viable industry on the island, such as salt mines, farming, commercial fishing along with eucalyptus oil stills that were set up and the Yacca was threshed for its gum to produce lacquer and explosives. Many things were tried and tested but never lasted until the fundamental component of the island was established, tourism. To this very day people from all over the world come to experience the awe-inspiring wonder of this barely untouched island that is still relatively in its natural state.

You can do as much or as little as you want when you are on Kangaroo Island.  You can drive along the coastal road to a secluded beach where you can dine on succulent oysters, wine, lobsters and cheese for the day or go hiking along the cliff tops or wander through the villages and quaint stores and boutique where many interest buys can be found to make a special vacation.

Kangaroo Island's coastline has everything, from surf-pounded cliffs to becalmed coves, from famous sweeps of sand to secret rocky inlets. Yet in spite of the diversity, you don't have to travel far to enjoy spectacular contrasts. The possibilities for recreation are equally diverse - surfers, fishermen, wreck-divers, wildlife lovers and of course people who simply love to feel sand between their toes, they all relish the Island fringes. The crystal blue waters that lie just off Kangaroo Island provide some of the best fishing, swimming, diving, surfing and sailing to be found anywhere.

There really is something for everyone on the amazing island off the coast of South Australia.  You go caving diving and check out the underground world of ornate calcite formations, or come and see the Penguin Pageantry where these inquisitive animals put on a display for the tourists every day. There is also Flinders Chase National Park where you can bare witness to the Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch, two of the many amazing land formation within the park or visit the seals at Seal Bay Conservation Bay and see these amazing creatures lazing on the beach and basking in the sun.
