Whitsundays

The Whitsunday islands consist of 74 islands of various sizes off the coast of Queensland, and Mackay. These islands that make up the Whitsunday region, all closely located to each other, like stepping stones. They are the jewels of the Great Barrier Reef, with their incredible diversity and variety of wildlife and marine life that call these island and the surround warm ocean waters their home. Airlie Beach is the gateway to the Whitsunday's; metamorphosing from a single-street village a few years ago. The centre is now a major tourist destination in its own right with superb community and infrastructure support. Airlie Beach is now pedestrian heaven with scenic boardwalks joining the inlets and bays. This is a good introduction to walking in the Whitsundays.

Located up the top of the Whitsunday in the Great Barrier Reef you can find the world famous Reef World where you can stay for the day of if even overnight. Reefworld is a floating pontoon in the middle of the reef, where you can enjoy diving, snorkelling, swimming and learn about the reef system and how it works. There is something for the kids and the adults, with a kids clubs to keep the little ones entertained while mum and dad go off and spend some quality time together exploring the coral reef gardens. The kids are completely looking after with a variety of games, and swimming in the safety enclosure built with the kids in mind.
