You can fish from the rock walls, straight from the beach, up the estuaries, or embark on a fishing expedition to do some deep sea fishing that will guarantee you a catch of the day. You can catch anything from marlin to tuna, from snapper, Jew or trag.  There is such a diverse range of fish species, as well as the large commercial prawn industry and plenty of safe boat ramps offering access to offshore fishing; it really is a mecca for fishing enthusiast.

There are a number of things to see and do while you visit this peaceful seaside town of Yamba.  You can travel to the lighthouse, visit the salt water swimming pool, walk through the historical museum and art gallery or visit the Gorman’s Oyster farm.  Then just 20mins west along the river you will find the picturesque town of Maclean where you can dine at excellent al fresco restaurants, see beautifully restored buildings, see cane fire burning (July / December), visit the Maclean Lookout, walk through the art and cultural centre or simply just wander in and around the quaint retail outlets offering clothes, souvenirs and knick knacks. 

During the months of August and September a rare spectacle can be witness with the passing of the migratory whales on their way to Hervey Bay.  View them breaching and tail slapping from the Yamba Lighthouse, the Breakwall and many other fantastic points, so you can watch these majestic animals at play.
