Terrigal

Terrigal is a major coastal suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located 12 kilometres east of Gosford on the Pacific Ocean. It is a small but busy seaside town that is dominated by the well-established Norfolk pines that line the beach front along the beautiful Esplanade.  It has quickly become a ritzy, up-market social centre, complete with fine restaurants, shopping precinct, luxury accommodation and activities galore.

Terrigal is surrounded by picturesque bays and beaches that boast some of Australia’s finest surfing conditions around.  It is here you can walk along golden sandy beaches, swim in crystal blue warm waters and enjoy the year round warm climate. Terrigal and Wamberal Lagoons are adjacent to the beach which are lined by large trees for glorious shade on a hot summers day and the Terrigal Lakes foreshore and Wamberal Lagoon is surrounded by a sanctuary for protected birds and animals, perfect for nature lovers to get up close and personal.

Located just out of Terrigal is the Wyrrabalong National Park which is divided into two separate areas, one a narrow strip of coastline stretching from Forresters Beach to Bateau Bay, and the other further north, a larger area between The Entrance and Norah Head. The park features high exposed coastal cliffs, woodlands of native trees and flora along the plateau, and plenty of mangrove areas, marine and bird life. Here you can set out on a hiking tour or do a self guided walk, taking in the splendour of the outdoors.

Terrigal certainly makes for one of the most appealing getaways on the New South Wales Central Coast. The pleasant atmosphere that comes with any town on the coastline is heightened by Terrigal's cosmopolitan vibe, established in its decor and attitude to life's luxuries. An enticing environment like this makes it most desirable to take an ecotour of its lush surrounds, including Terrigal's greatest natural feature, Skillion and later capped off with a first-class meal. The beaches of Terrigal and Forresters are two of the most sought-after water spots in the region.

‘The Skillion’ is the most prominent landmark of the town, offering the perfect lookout point out over the ocean and beyond.  Surrounded by gorgeous green grass it makes for the perfect picnic area for the whole family, so pack some lunch, enjoy the views while you bask in the glorious sun.

Most popular activities along the Terrigal stretch of coast are surfing, swimming, boating, waterskiing and fishing. Anglers regularly find flathead, snapper, and jewfish offshore, and flathead, blackfish and bream in the surf. Surfing and fishing are two of the most popular pastimes enjoyed by many people that come to visit this seaside town, with perfect conditions most days it is something to be experienced.

Terrigal is one of those rare jewels that is slowly being discovered, and offers its visitors peace and tranquillity and beautiful backdrops of rainforest and waterways.  From luxury accommodation, excellent dining options, shopping and attractions and not to mention the endless list of water sports to take part in....
