Canberra

Canberra is often described by Australians who haven't been there as a boring town, full of politicians, bureaucrats - and not much else. But those who go there find beautiful galleries and museums clustered around a lake and cupped in bushland. One of only two capital cities in the world that have been built to a premeditated design, Canberra is rather eerily symmetrical. Placed about its nice, planned combinations of straight and curving streets are the old and new Parliament Houses, the National Gallery, and the National Museum.

While Canberra boasts the prestigious title of being our 'National Capital' it's not just another town full of public servants. This chunk of land hidden in the lower corner of NSW and stamped ACT on the map is a definite destination on the list of must-do holidays, especially if you've got the kids in tow. Today Canberra is a city of great aesthetic beauty with broad roadways, superb parklands, and many elegant buildings. On a clear spring or autumn day it is a city which is captivating in its graciousness.

Canberra is a well-manicured city, and home to the countries big guns! It is here that you can find magnificent monuments, architecturally-designed masterpieces, National Art Gallery, Parliament House, High Court and the selection of origin-based embassies. Canberra is home to some of the country’s most exciting attractions such as the Questacon, Australian War Memorial, National Zoo & Aquarium, the National Dinosaur Museum and the Australian Reptile Centre Canberra.
The National Dinosaur Museum is a modest collection of dinosaur paraphernalia and also happens to be one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. Hear the kids and you can wonder through and learn about these amazing creatures that onces lived.  It isn’t just a trip for the little ones, adults have a great time too.

Leave the car parked where it is, for directly across the road is another family favourite, Cockington Green. Here you can view it all from a giant's vantage point as you wander the miniature, yet intricate world of teensy townsfolk, animals in the fields and cars on the roads, there's also a miniature steam train, but the bonus is, the train is big enough for the kids to ride.
No matter what age, everyone seems to enjoy a good view and Telstra Tower offers a re-energising coffee stop while offering spectacular views of Canberra and the impressive mountains beyond. In the same neighbourhood you'll find the National Zoo and Aquarium, realistically resembling their natural habitats, the enclosures give ample opportunity for the wildlife to hide within.
